On September 16 of last year Ame-rican Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan has celebrated its 10th anniversary.
There were a lot of reasons to cele-brate: an existence of a sustainable business community which is a truly international businessmen,s forum. All activities of AmCham in Uzbekistan were targeted to the improvement of the business climate and to the introduction of international corporate governance and business ethics practices.

Annual Conference of the American Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC, June 27, 2007
|
On June 27, 2007 the Washington based American Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) held its annual conference in the premises of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, DC. The sponsors of the conference were Case New Holland Inc., Caterpillar, Dunavant Enterprises, NUKEM Inc. and the law firm of White & Case. The Uzbek delegation was represented by the officials from various government structures headed by Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Mr. Elyor Ganiev. The US side consisted of approximately 100 participants representing the US businesses, non-profit organizations, the Department of State, the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce.

I'm Oybek Khalilov. I was born in an ancient town of Kokand in 1972. Being raised in a relatively well-off mid-class family, where kids would usually spend time at the university studying, at the age of seventeen I deliberately decided to take a permanent job at a factory to learn on the ground the real challenges and hardship of earning money for a living. My career embodies significant activities spanning the business, public and academic sector.

The June 2007 Business Mixer was hosted by long time AmCham Member Ernst & Young. The venue was the Harem Terrace Restaurant at the Hotel “Grand Mir”. AmCham members and their guests were treated to good food, drinks, and social interaction. Everyone enjoyed a spectacular view of the city while the sun was setting causing a kaleidoscope of colors on the city buildings and streets.

The United States of America celebrated on 04 July 2007 the 231rd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The USA Embassy in Tashkent hosted a gala reception for USA citizens, diplomatic community and Uzbek guests in the Embassy compound.

The 11th International Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Uzbekistan” took place in Tashkent in May 2007. 142 companies from 18 countries of the world participated in the event. Among them one could find Russia, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Iran, China, USA, Malaysia, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. The Exhibition consisted of the sections as follows: geology and geophysics, seismic equipment and services, oil production and gas extraction, seabed mining, oil wells and gassers, transportation and storage of oil.
