On September 16 of last year Ame-rican Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan has celebrated its 10th anniversary.
There were a lot of reasons to cele-brate: an existence of a sustainable business community which is a truly international businessmen,s forum. All activities of AmCham in Uzbekistan were targeted to the improvement of the business climate and to the introduction of  international corporate governance and business ethics practices.

I'm Oybek Khalilov. I was born in an ancient town of Kokand in 1972. Being raised in a relatively well-off mid-class family, where kids would usually spend time at the university studying, at the age of seventeen I deliberately decided to take a permanent job at a factory to learn on the ground the real challenges and hardship of earning money for a living. In accordance with the Bylaws of the American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan the Board of Directors called the membership together for an Interim General Assembly to report on the activities of the first half of the current fiscal year and hear about the planned activities for the rest of the year.

Mister Ambassador, not long ago, on January 26, 2007, the people of India celebrated the 58th anniversary of India being proclaimed as a Republic. The date was also widely marked in Uzbekistan. We are glad to note that bilateral relations between your country and Uzbekistan are friendly and have deep historical roots.

[Ed.Note] Uzbekistan has been admitted into the world community and is an active member of many international organizations. Currently Uzbekistan has diplomatic relations with 111 countries. Embassies and missions of 42 countries are located in Uzbekistan, and embassies of Uzbekistan are working in 40 countries of the world.

The June 2007 Business Mixer was hosted by long time AmCham Member Ernst & Young. The venue was the Harem Terrace Restaurant at the Hotel “Grand Mir”. AmCham members and their guests were treated to good food, drinks, and social interaction. Everyone enjoyed a spectacular view of the city while the sun was setting causing a kaleidoscope of colors on the city buildings and streets.

The 11th International Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Uzbekistan” took place in Tashkent in May 2007. 142 companies from 18 countries of the world participated in the event. Among them one could find Russia, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Iran, China, USA, Malaysia, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. The Exhibition consisted of the sections as follows: geology and geophysics, seismic equipment and services, oil production and gas extraction, seabed mining, oil  wells and gassers, transportation and storage of oil.
